Support the hunger relief efforts of Gleaners for the Lord on Sunday, January 25th, 2009 at 6:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Downers Grove. This special evening will feature:
Also included in this evening of music are: Joyful Noise - Folk Gospel Group from Calvary United Methodist Church of Villa Park.

Sharon Hedberg's father
Sharon Hedberg's 80-year-old father passed away on Tuesday morning, December 16th, 2008. He had been in a nursing home for a while suffering from Alzheimer's. He got the flu and was not able to get over it. He passed away quietly in his sleep.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 19th, 2008 from 4:00-8:00pm at Toon Funeral Home in Westmont. The memorial service will be 11:00am on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 at Western Springs Baptist Church.

LARRY CAVIN
We are sorry to announce that Pastor Larry Cavin passed away this morning, Saturday, November 29th, 2008. At the same time we are rejoicing that he is home with the Lord.

Larry had been ill for a long time, but was always very positive about the future. He was truly a man of God. Please pray for his wife, Terri and their family. He will be missed.

We will keep you updated on the plans for a service as we receive them. Thank you.

FREE THANKSGIVING MEAL
To Non-Profit Organizations:
The owner of Tommy Nevins restaurant in Naperville has purchased food for 400 people for a charity meal on Thanksgiving Day but the charity has informed him that they will only have 35 people. The owner, Steve Sin, would like to fill his restaurant with people who need a free meal this Thanksgiving. If you know a family or individual that could use a free Thanksgiving meal, please have them contact Kevin Dolan at 630-369-8475.
Tommy Nevins is located on Rt. 59 just south of 103rd Street in Naperville. The meal will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday.

THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE
Our Thanksgiving Eve service will be on Wednesday, 11/26/08 at 7:00 P.M.

Come and give thanks for all that the Lord has provided and blessed us with.

There will be a love offering taken at the end of the service to go towards the need of a vehicle for the McQueary Family in Costa Rica.

Praise God for all he provides
Many of the needs for this Ministry have been filled but we are stilll in need of some very important help.

Overnight shift 11:00pm / 3:00am shift still needs ONE MAN, this position must be filled by a Man as to ensure the balance and safety of the clients and workers.

Four other volunteers are needed for the laundry duty. This laundry may be pick up at the First Unided Methodist Church on Wednesday morning after 7:30am and must be returned by the following Monday for the next shelter opening.

Some food supplies are still needed and anyone wanting to join in the prayer service is also welcome to come.
Final sign-up this Sunday, 11/16/08 ... see you soon!

November 18, 2008 - Service Date Needs

The following positions need to be filled for our PADS service date of 11/18/08. Please prayerfully consier supporting this ministry as you can and as God calls us to serve Him.

OVERNIGHT SHIFT WORKERS (2 people per shift)
8:30 p.m. -11:00 p.m.
11:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m.
3:00 - 6:00 a.m.

BREAKFAST CLEAN UP CREW (4 people needed)
6:00 - 7:30 a.m.

LAURDRY WORKERS (6 people needed)

FOOD SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Milk, orange juice sliced ham for lunches, chips and drink boxes, cereal, eggs, bacon

PRAYER SERVICE VOLUNTEERS
Participate in prayer with PADS clients who respond to the invitation or who ask for prayer via prayer cards supplied to them by FBC.

THIS SUNDAY, 11/9/08, WILL BE THE LAST OPPORTUNITY TO SIGN UP. PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING THIS MINISTRY AS AN OUTREACH TO THOSE IN NEED.
