Everyone is invited to attend - even if you are here for the first time. You do not have to be a member to attend this event.

FBC ANNUAL PICNIC
Just a friendly reminder about FBC's Annual Picnic this Sunday, 8/19/12 at 4pm at Hummer Park on Fairview in Downers Grove. Food will be served at 4:30pm. There will be games for the little ones. Volley ball for the older children and/or adults.
This is for everyone - there is no age requirement.
Come for a great time of fellowship.
You do not have to be a member of FBC to take part in this. If you are here for the first time, you are just as welcomed.
Just to give us an idea of how many we will be serving, you can still contact the church office to let us know you will be joining us. Thanks.

MINISTRY NEED
NURSERY
We need help in our nurseries. If you would be willing to help out the care of our little ones, we would appreciate you getting signed up. This isn't just for moms or women, it is for dads and men also. It can be once a month, every other month, a couple of times a month, etc. We need people that will stay committed to filling in the time slots available. We are especially looking for people for the 9:00 a.m. hour.

This Sunday, July 22nd First Baptist will have an impromptu choir! If you would like to participate, please come at 8:30 to rehearse. We will sing for the offertory. Music reading ability is encouraged. This will be fun!

REMINDER
Lake Geneva Youth Camp
It isn't too late to register for the best week of your summer!
Register for a week of camp at Lake Geneva Youth Camp. They have weeks available for all ages. This year volunteers, counselors, and campers from First Baptist Church will be going up together for Junior Coed the week of July 1-7th.
Come join the fun! Campers from 3rd through 6th grade will stay the entire week. Campers 1st through 3rd grades can come for a mini half week camp experience.
Some of our Awana and church volunteers will be there as counselors including: Peter Matousek, Greg Elwood, Sam Brooks, Joe Stellato, Tom Haring, Sharon and Mary Nese, and Tom and Bethany Dobbertin.
Also, for $10 per person, families can come on the 4th of July to join their camper for the afternoon, which will include dinner, Chapel, and fireworks.

REMINDER
Friday Afternoon Notes
Especially for those who only check email during weekdays, a couple late afternoon reminders before you head off for the weekend: - The DG Five Mile Run is this Sunday. Our main parking lot will be open, but the Lincoln Center lot will be closed. There will also be a few streets closed. If you leave for church a couple minutes early, everything will be fine.
- Following the morning service on Sunday will be the Farewell for Fred Versluys and Family.
- Looking ahead: the church gym will be closed on Monday, July 30th through Sunday, August 5th.

DGCS Golf Fundraiser
Dear FBC Family,
Our Downers Grove Christian School is having their first ever golf outing fundraiser! This is a Best Ball outing, which allows all levels of skill to participate. Invite your friends and family. Their goal is to have a minimum of 50 golfers for this event. There are also Sponsorship opportunities for anyone wishing to get your business name out there, or if you would like to contribute more.
Please download a brochure for more information. You will need to print out the brochure so you can complete and mail in the golfer registration and sponsorship forms along with a check. The cost for any staff and spouse of FBC, DGCS, or clergy from any other church will be at the discounted rate of $65.

Vacation Bible School
First Baptist Church of Downers Grove Invites Children to SKY:EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH GOD (Mark 10:27)
A summer kids’ event called Sky will be hosted at First Baptist Church of Downers Grove from June 11 to June 15, 9am to Noon. At Sky, faith and imagination soar as kids discover that everything is possible with God. Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into yummy treats, experience electrifying Bible adventures, and more! Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with Fly Away Finale—a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time a 12 noon.
