Answers in Genesis - March 2nd-3rd
In conjunction with Downers Grove Christian School, First Baptist Church welcomes Answers in Genesis on Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 and Monday, March 3rd, 2008 for six unique sessions by Dr. Tommy Mitchell. Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 9:00 AM - Are You Intimidated? 10:30 AM - Why Genesis Matters 6:00 PM - Why Can't a Day Mean a Day? 7:00 PM - Noah's Ark and the Global Flood Monday, March 3rd, 2008 7:00 PM - Jurassic Prank: A Dinosaur Tale 8:00 PM - Do You REALLY Have Answers? Answers in Genesis teaches that "facts" don't speak for themselves, but must be interpreted. That is, there aren't separate sets of "evidences" for evolution and creation-we all deal with the same evidence (we all live on the same earth, have the same fossils, observe the same animals, etc.). The difference lies in how we interpret what we study. The Bible-the "history book of the universe"-provides a reliable, eye-witness account of the beginning of all things, and can be trusted to tell the truth in all areas it touches on. Therefore, we are able to use it to help us make sense of this present world. When properly understood, the "evidence" confirms the biblical account. Ken Ham, AiG-USA president, says of Dr. Mitchell: "Dr. Mitchell has been a personal friend of mine for many years now. Not only is he a popular internist among his peers and patients, but he just happens to be an excellent public speaker. Dr. Mitchell has studied the creation message for several years and is extremely knowledgeable about biblical apologetics-he has also been influenced by the many AiG lectures he has heard over the years."

MINISTRY NEED
P.A.D.S. November 20th
There are still two needs for help with the PADS Ministry for November 20th:
First, there are 5 spots open for help with the 6:00 a.m. clean-up crew Wednesday, November 21st. This crew has a lot of work to complete in a short amount of time. We must be done and out of the church by 7:30. Many hands make this a much more reachable goal.
Second, there is a need for the food: milk, orange juice, snacks for lunches, bacon etc.
Please visit Karen at the sign-up table on Sunday if you are able to help. Prayfully consider your help with this ministry.

Gleaning Events update
Yes, we still are gleaning on the weekends! This Saturday, October 27th from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. we will be gleaning winter squash. For those of you who are familiar with Royal Oak Orchard in Harvard, IL, the squash patch is 100 yards past (west) of the entrance into the orchard. Just on the right side of the road. You can see the patch from the road. We will be picking all varies of winter squash; hubbarb (my favorite) acorn, butternut, turbard, carivail, just to name a few. Winter squash is extremely healthy for you and stores very well, hence the name "winter squash". Native Americans introduced the food to the pilgrims. Another reason it is a Thanksgiving favorite. Yes, we are still "gleaning" "windfall" apples at Royal Oak Orchard on Sundays from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. The last couple of weeks we have been averaging 10,000 pounds of apples per day! For more information contact Joe Royston at (630) 207-6403. We have been having a wonderful time serving the Lord with several Girl Scout troops form Downers Grove, Naperville, and Carol Stream and one Boy Scout Troop Eagle Scout Project from Libertyville. We have also been joined by several "small group studies" from Willow Creek, Harvest Bible Chapel, First Baptist, Bensenville United Methodist, Woodstock Methodist, as well as my "veteran gleaners". Don't miss your chance this year. We are on "borrowed time". View Larger Map
