ANNOUNCEMENT
FROM RYAN, MATTHEW, JUSTIN, BRANDON
FBC Friends and Family,
The past 5 months have been extremely overwhelming and tiring on our whole family. It is never easy to hear the word “cancer” associated with anyone, let alone someone in your family. I know that our family could not have gotten through this difficult time without our faith and trust solely in our amazing God. He has provided constant strength through His word and the numerous promises we are reminded of within the scriptures. He has continued to lift us up and give us the strength to face each day. We are so thankful for a God that cares about our daily trials and is right there with us through the good times and the difficult times.
We as a family have also seen so much love and support from the church family, and we wanted to take a moment to thank each one of you.
At times it is overwhelming to think about all that you have done for our family: the meals, cleaning our house, numerous people helping fix things around the house/in the house, and even helping with the yard work. Mom is flooded with cards, flowers and gifts it seems daily.
Thank you so much for your prayers, and the constant encouragement you've been to us as a family and to our Mom.
As we have gotten older we have realized what a blessing First Baptist has been to our family. We have seen so many who have lived for Christ over the years and been a continued example to us of what an authentic believer really looks like. Never has this been more apparent than during this difficult time as all of you have poured out your love and prayers for our family. Thank you for loving our parents the way that you have. Thanks for continuing to lift mom and each one of us up in your prayers even now, we are forever grateful.
We know God is using this cancer for His glory, mom’s life/health is in His hands and there is no better place for it to be. God is good and doesn't make mistakes.
Thank you so much for being such an amazing blessing to our family.
Ryan, Matthew, Justin & Brandon

MINISTRY NEED
AWANA
What a great meeting we had last night for the AWANA leaders/helpers. Thank you to those of you who were able to come out. And for those of you who were not able to attend the meeting and are still interested in helping out at AWANA please email us and let us know and/or just show up on Wednesday, 9/9/09 at 7:00 p.m. and we will find a place for you. We are in need of helpers, whether it's every Wednesday night or a couple of times a month, we can use you. We would certainly like to have more Verse Listeners so each child can have the one-on-one time needed to recite what they have memorized. This is about a 30 minute time slot and if that is all you are able to give, we would appreciate it. Even if you can help out as a substitute that would be great. Please contact us or call the church office at 630-852-0800 to let us know of your availability. Thank you. Your AWANA Club leaders.

COMING SOON
AWANA CLUBS
It’s that time of year again..... School is starting & so is AWANA!
Many of you have been leaders in the past, or already expressed interest. If you know of anybody who might be at all interested, please forward this to them. We would really appreciate it.
If you are not involved in a ministry at church, or have even a little available time to help, we promise this is an investment well worth your time. We are allowed the awesome privilege of working with these kids at such a young impressionable age. You probably have already heard it, but studies show that over 80% of people who accept Christ as their Savior do so before the age of 18. AWANA is one of the many unbelievable opportunities to do our part in God’s plan on their lives.
We ask that you seriously consider if you can help us IN ANY WAY (we have all different types of needs, some require more & some less time, etc).
A few examples of positions that traditionally need to be filled are: Team/group Leaders: Adults, require weekly commitment, in charge of a group of kids, needed for the full night.
Verse listeners: Can be adults or “Jr. Leaders,” needed for a set period of time so that kids get one-on-one time, about a 30 min. slot
Game directors: Be creative in scheduling game time, monitor teams/points, physical setup of gyp & getting equipment, about a 30 min. time slot
Club Secretaries: Keep track of attendance, verses, dues, points, etc for each club
Message/Story time: Gives brief age appropriate message to kids, approx 20-30 minute long, generally 1-2 times per year
Physical breakdown crew: Puts back classrooms & kitchen tables / chairs so ready for school the following morning, generally right after kids leave, takes about 15-30 minutes.
If you are interested at all, please come & just check us out at our leaders meeting on Wednesday the 2nd @ 7:00pm in Fellowship Hall at FBC.
Please call or email me anytime!!!
PS) We are also doing a door-to-door door hanger inviting kids to come… With the hopes that we will get a large group of ‘unchurched’ kids…. If you cannot commit to the year, we still need one-time helpers to walk & place them on doors in our communities…. & we certainly would appreciate your prayers that God would use this to really get a bunch of new kids to come!
