What is Awana and how does it make a difference in the lives of kids?
The goal of Awana is to "empower Christian leaders worldwide to train children to know, love and serve Christ." Awana is an acronym for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed", based on 2 Timothy 2:15. Awana focuses on Scripture memorization, and is the world's largest Scripture memory program for children. But it doesn't stop at just memorization. Materials for each age level help kids understand and apply the truths of Scripture to their lives. An atmosphere of fun and excitement will keep kids coming back week after week, often with friends in tow.
So what's in our programs?
The goal of a child's journey through Awana is to produce a young person who understands God's Word and applies that knowledge to their lives. The spiritual needs of kids in each stage of their life is the focus we maintain while staying true to the Word of God.
Cubbies
Preschool (3 years - pre-K)
Cubbies learn Scripture Memory and basic Bible truths in their own handbook. Also, Cubbies have story & puppet times as well as play time and snack time. At the end of the year there is a Cubbie Carnival and Awards Ceremony to celebrate all their hard work.
Sparks
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
Boys and girls are combined in the Sparks program as they take a chronological journey through the Bible, memorizing key verses and earning awards on the way. Not only do they memorize verses at book time, but Sparkies also engage in game time, and song and story time. Sparks participate in the end of the year Awana Carnival and Awards Ceremony as well.
Truth & Training
3rd - 6th Grade
Boys and girls meet in separate clubs as they dive into deep issues of life asking why, what and how come. To keep things fun this program features: Theme Nights, Contests, Awards Night and the end of the year Awana Carnival. Participants in T&T also earn Awana Shares to redeem throughout the year at the Awana Store.
