First Baptist Church of Downers Grove has a long, rich history as a lighthouse for people from all walks of life. We often describe ourselves as a group of people who strive to be Biblical, Vibrant and Caring. We recognize the Bible as God's Word for us. It is the authority upon which we base all that we believe. We believe that God's Word has the answers to all the issues we will face in life and is God's means of showing us not only how to live but also how to become a part of His eternal family.

Although we have been in existence as a church for over 150 years, we are not living in the past! We desire to be in touch with the issues people are facing today in order to help them see the powerful difference Jesus can make in their lives. We strive to be vibrantly alive with the life we have received through Jesus Christ.

We have a sense of "family" which allows us to genuinely care for people who come to our church. We understand that there will always be people who need to feel like they have a place where they belong. We are a church family who daily demonstrates their ability to care for others.
